The “Eco”

Posted by admin On September - 16 - 2009

So just how “Eco” is Eco Echo? It’s important to us to be eco-friendly while we are showing you some fantastic stories that are environmentally related. We are constantly seeking more ways to green our own practices. Here is what we are doing so far:

Think Globally, Shoot Locally

Eco Echo is based out of Miami, Florida. While there are a lot of fantastic stories across the globe, we’ve focused on local stories. We have the great advantage that no other green show has been based anywhere near here, and there are a plethora of fascinating stories just waiting to be told.

Why is shooting locally considered green?

We’re not trucking or flying crew and equipment up, down, and all around – saving a ton of energy and fuel along the way. Of course, once Eco Echo becomes the huge television show that we know it will be, we’re sure that travel will become a factor eventually. Rest assured that when it does, we will take the environment in mind to keep our impact as small as possible.

Location, Location, Location

You may have noticed that Eco Echo is shot in natural environments, not a studio. Studios require electricity, of course, tons of lighting (more electricity), and more. Instead, we are using Mother Nature’s lighting and that green landscape that just makes you want to inhale deeply and breathe!

Organic, Bamboo, and Recycled, oh my!

Our host, Alina Sedano, is always sporting some pretty cool clothes. These duds are eco-friendly and made of organic cotton, bamboo, and other eco-friendly fabrics. For details on the clothes featured in each episode, check out the details in our Episode Guide.

Virtually Yours

We live in a virtual age. Thank goodness! How did we ever survive without all of this stuff? And though electronics aren’t the most eco-friendly thing on the planet, they do save us from using up the trees! We are utilizing every virtual option possible in the creation and promotion of Eco Echo, attempting to drastically minimize (almost eliminate!) our use of printing and paper products.

Got an idea on how we could make our eco “echo” even more? We’d love to hear it! Comment below or contact us!
